Oh how it is so much more than kicking a ball!

Brazil eats, sleeps and drinks football. It lives football! – Pele   It’s a funny old saying isn’t it ‘ the beautiful game’ , one that often provokes huge debate and sighs from those, who just simply do not understand the love affair millions have with football often labelling it as ‘ just a game’. However to others, it is a way of life, it is all some have ever known, it provides opportunities, friendship and yes, the so-called ‘ beautiful game’ has even caused tears to plummet down heartbroken faces across the globe. As the FIFA World Cup is now upon us, these emotions will only increase. Those who label it as ‘ just a game’ perceptibly are not opening their minds to realise that the sport of football, simply put is the most absolute, powerful way of uniting opposed communities globally, regardless of their background. It stops current conflict, potential conflict, creates the most unlikely friendships, generates the unthinkable… and this why. December 25 th 1914, also kno

Is Harry Kane the man to break Alan Shearer’s Premier League record?

Image
In public Harry Kane hasn’t shied away from his ambition to one day break Shearer’s record, I guess in this context, taking each game as it comes is out of the window. As each week goes, it is looking more and more likely that he will certainly come close if not break the record. Due to Kane’s terrific form in September even Shearer has expressed his anxiety through columns regarding his record stating ‘Harry Kane has all the tools to top my Premier League goal scoring record’. Surely if anybody can do it, Harry can.    Advantageous head start One thing that is certainly on Kane’s side, is the head start he currently occupies. At the age of 24, Harry already has an outstanding 84 Premier League goals whereas if you were to compare that to Shearer’s total at 24 then Kane is on top as Shearer at the same age had 47. Let’s not forget though that the early stages of Shearer’s career, whilst at Southampton, the Premier League hadn’t been created yet. Up to this point, the darling of

Who got the better deal out of the Kyle Walker transfer?

Image
After months of speculation, last week Manchester City completed the £50million deal for Tottenham and England right back Kyle Walker. From the reactions across Social Media, it seems like fans on both sides are delighted with the transfer, however, who actually benefited from the transfer more?                 Evident from last season, one of the reasons City could not achieve instant success with the Pep Guardiola philosophy was because of their shortage of top quality full backs. The reason the full backs play a massive part in Pep’s philosophy is because he loves them to push high up the pitch as much as they possibly can, almost as wingers so that they are completely dominating play. Last season at right back, however, Pep had to work with Bacary Sagna and long serving veteran Pablo Zabaleta. None of whom are known for their blistering pace, nor their ability to attack the flank, unlike Kyle Walker. So as you can tell, Sagna and Zabaleta didn’t exactly have a season to re

What exactly can Tottenham Hotspur do to take that next step?

Hope. Ambition. Excitement. These are all words that currently associate with the project Mauricio Pochettino is currently building in North London. All this hope and excitement however counts to nothing if Spurs do not win any trophies with this current squad! It is a squad many see to be Tottenham’s greatest in recent decades, one that is uniting the fans and the club more than ever with the addition of a state of the art stadium; now is the time for Tottenham Hotspur to be a force. So what can Spurs do to their squad this summer to ensure this happens? Who to sell? Kevin Wimmer Unfortunately for Wimmer his second season has been nowhere near as positive as his first at the Lane. In his maiden, he had to step in for the injured Jan Vertonghen and impressed massively contributing to 5 clean sheets in 8 games. In contrast his second season, well, involves very dodgy performances and Wimmer ultimately being a liability. If any of Tottenham’s back three were to get injured, t

What to do with Arsene Wenger

Image
So, here it is again, the time of year where the world of football starts debating as to whether Arsene Wenger should end his multi-year reign at Arsenal Football Club. This is the same debate that has been occurring consecutively since the 2013/14 season where the FA Cup victory at the end of that season supposedly kept him in the job. However, this year it is totally different, there is a strong genuine feeling that Arsene Wenger will decide to leave Arsenal after 21 years at the helm. Fans are divided so, should he stay or should he go? At Arsenal Wenger has won 3 Premier League titles and 6 FA Cups, which is remarkable for any manager around the world however, 13 years. It has been 13 years since Arsenal last won the Premier League. Surely a club as big as Arsenal cannot be satisfied with the fact that they haven’t won a league title in over a decade. Specifically looking at the more recent years for example, they have now fully paid off the debt for the new stadium and are now

Sacking Ranieri was the correct decision

Image
On Thursday afternoon, the reigning champions of England, Leicester City decided to sack their beloved title winning manager in Claudio Ranieri leaving many football fans around the country shocked, livid and feeling nothing but sympathy for Ranieri, but why should they be shocked? Surely from looking at how the league campaign has gone for Leicester this season, he had the sack coming. Yes, many fans will argue that it is an absolute disgrace to sack the man who led the Leicester side to the title despite being labelled at 5000/1 to win it and it is something that is even more of a fairytale than the league winning side of Nottingham Forest back in 1978. However last season is irrelevant now, you cannot be stuck in past achievements. Last season proved that with Chelsea sacking Jose Mourinho only 7 months after winning the title, the sacking then proved to be the correct decision with Chelsea getting their season back on track and now find themselves managed by a genius in Antonio C
